During our session, we will explore:
- The principles of breastfeeding and how it works
- Typical challenges faced by mothers and practical ways to overcome them
- Setting realistic expectations for the early weeks of breastfeeding
- Steps to ensure your breastfeeding journey gets off to a positive start
I will also address any particular worries you may have about breastfeeding, such as:
- Having undergone breast surgery in the past
- Previous breastfeeding difficulties
- Factors that might delay milk production and strategies to address these
- Concerns about flat or inverted nipples
- Anticipated admission to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Antenatal hand expressing (colostrum harvesting), which has been shown to help prevent common breastfeeding issues.
